In section, there is one or more category. The articles are entered into one of the categories. Category manages in the Category Manager page. You can access this page through Content > Category Manager. In this page, you can make, modify, copy, and delete category.

If we want to delete a category, such as in section, Joomla! will examine whether there is an article in category or not. If there is, the category will be not deleted.

As already told before that the highest article groupings are section. You can manage the section in Section Manager. You can access it throught Content > Section Manager. Look at the picture 3.60.

In this Section Manager page, you can make, modify, and delete section. If you delete section which there is a category in it, the category will lose its “mother.” Because of the category must have a section, Joomla! is not allowed you to delete section which there is a category in it.

Beneath are the steps in making new article in Joomla!:

1. Open Article Manager through Content > Article Manager.
2. Click the New icon in the upper toolbar.
3. You will get the form to write the article. Here are the items in the form:

-Title: Type the title from the article which will you made.
- Alias: The text that you are written in this field will be publicated in url if you choose to optimize the URL for search engine.
- Section: Choose section from the available list.
- Category: Choose one category from the available category list. This category list depends from the section that you have been chose.
- Published: Confirmation whether you want to publish this article or not.
- Front Page: Does the article is published in the front page or not.

Article Manager is the management center of all of your articles in Joomla! You can access it through Content > Article Manager. From that page, you can see the whole article complete with section, category, author, etc. You can also do the sort action based on section, category, author, date, etc (according to the colomn in that page).

Content Menu contains of everything that is related with the content management in Joomla! The content that is with the HTML format text is also called as article in Joomla! The content structure in Joomla! can be described such as the following:

Adding New Menu

As I already said before, when you are deleting the menu item, he will not delete it directly but it goes to the Trash Manager. To access the Trash Manager, you can through Menus > Menu Trash.

In the Trash Manager list, the entire menu item that is already deleted appears in this list. Through Trash Manager, you can do two things:

1. Delete the file permanently 2. Or, restore the file

Delete the Menu Item

In deleting menu, you can check the checkbox in the menu item that you want to delete. Then, click the Delete icon. After you delete the item through the Trash Manager, the menu item is really gone and you cannot restore it back.

Restore the Menu Item

Restore is the process of returning the menu item into the menu source. If we heard about the word “restore”, possibly you will remember about the recycle bin facility in windows explorer. You can return the file that has been deleted but stills keep in the recycle bin. Well, the restore function is the same with the recycle bin restore.

You can access Main Menu Manager through Menus > Main Menu. You can see the Main Menu Manager picture as in the picture 3.29. In that list, you will see menu items that get in the Main Menu. It also has the same order as the Main Menu. Main Menu that is in the front page is located in the upper left (Picture 3.30).
